It seems about once a month we hear that sound on the radio or TV, “MERRRP, MERRRP,
MERRRP, THIS IS A MONTHLY EMERGENCY BROADCAST TEST, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.” If only the
daily tests, and sometimes weekly or monthly exams, put in our lives by our enemy were
announced this way. Then we would know to be on guard, be ready, something is coming, but
unfortunately it does not work this way. Peter says, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your
enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8).”
Our enemy is not going to pop out, like the clown he is, honking his nose and crying out, “Here
I am! Watch out for these marbles I’m about to throw under your skateboard wheels.” He
knows what he is doing. He has been with us for a long time. He knows our weaknesses and
strengths. He knows how to tempt our flesh, especially if you have only begun to walk with
the Lord again, or for the first time. He is waiting, crouching in the bushes, prowling around the
perimeter, watching patiently for the opportune time pounce. Shoot that unholy arrow in
disguise as a weird thought, or lustful feeling.
Thankfully, we have the Holy Spirit within us, and if we listen to him he will make us aware of
the enemy’s plans. He will gently point us in the direction of the rustling in the bush, that low
growl we heard, as the lion grows impatient. Holy Spirit does not want us to fail these tests,
or exams, but sometimes we do fail, miserably, but when we do, our Heavenly Father is
merciful and allows us an innumerable amount of retakes. He helps us see what we missed
on the first exam, and what area we need to grow stronger in.
Our flesh is weak, it wants to fall back into its old patterns of thinking, old habits. A.W. Tozer
said hit the nail on the head when he said, "we have learned to live with unholiness and have
come to look upon it as the natural and expected thing." He also said, “The Holy Spirit never
enters a man and lets him live like the world. You can be sure of that.” As believers, our
purpose is to live our lives as an example of Jesus on earth, living sacrifices, listening to the
truth from our Father, rejecting the lies of the enemy and his evil army. Jesus, our King, is
the perfect mold of the way a human should be, God sent him to be that high standard to
which we should be striving toward.

In our heart of hearts, Our spirit, everything we should do should give glory to our creator.
Every move, every word, should have undertones of thankfulness toward our High Priest, who
died for us, so that we can approach the Mercy Seat, the Throne of Grace. Paul writes in
Ephesians 2:6, “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly
realms in Christ Jesus.” He does not fall off of his throne, and we are on that throne. What
does that mean for us? It means, WE Do NOT FALL OFF OF HIS THRONE EITHER! If you slip
a little just reach up and He will take your hand and place you back in, your seat. What kind
of king shares his throne? OUR KING! Where in the world have we ever seen a king share his
throne? NO WHERE! WHY? Because we are NOT OF THIS WORLD, “But he [JESUS] continued,
"You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world,”(John
8:23). Again he states in John 18:36 “Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my
servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is
from another place."”
We are one with him. Jesus is about be killed and instead of using his time to pray from
himself alone, he prays for his disciples and US! ““My prayer is not for them alone. I pray
also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one,
Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may
believe that you have sent me, have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be
one as we are one—”” (John 17:20-22) If He’s on the throne, we are on the throne. God is
within him and he is within us, therefore, God is within US!
