Prayer is a powerful thing, when you are struggling or need to talk to God, He listens. No prayer is a waste of time nor unheard of. When it comes to answering prayers the Lord only give three types of answers, yes, no, and wait.
The majority of answered prayers are wait. This is all because it’s in His timing. And Gods timing is always perfect. We may see that His timing is not always perfect in our own eyes, but that’s because we don’t always know what plans He has for us.
I can’t speak for everyone but, I have noticed prayer hasn’t been active in people’s lives as it should be. I admit I have had this issue in my past. But when you begin to pray over everything even if it’s under your breath, you begin to see change and begin to feel joy.
When the Lord answers with a “no” we should praise Him. We should praise Him no matter the answer, besides the point of Him saying no can consist of a few or more reasons:
1. If you go further in the request that you have prayed for it may cause you to fall away from your walk with Christ.
2. If you continue the situation may harm you.
3. This request may harm a good relationship.
This is just three reason that can be the cause of His “no”. But really we don’t really know why He says no, unless He reveals the reason for His answer. We need to have faith in the Lord no matter what His answer is.
If we were to be given everything we prayed for, we would be in complete chaos. Take a look at some millennials, the enemy has cause so much deception towards today’s generation that causes them to be spoiled with the new IPhone or Galaxy phone or Hover board.
Its ok to have these don’t get me wrong, but we need to realize the difference between needs and wants. The Father sees that difference so He loves us so much that He says “no” at certain prayer requests.
When we get what we ask for, we should give thanksgiving. Really what does it mean to give thanksgiving? Turkey? A feast? Well, in this modern world I wouldn’t be surprised if you thought that. But really it means to give thanks by action or just say “Thank you Lord!”
It is important to show your gratitude towards the Lord no matter the answer, He is still working in your life even when you don’t see it. Sometimes we fall away from prayer but when the time comes when we need something we have no problem praying then. But, we really need to pray at all times, not just the times that benefit ourselves. No, we shouldn’t have selfish prayer.
Matthew 5:44 says, “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
Sometimes out of anger or confusion we pray or act in rebellion, even when we have disagreements no matter the situation we end up fighting without thinking or praying. Especially new believers as they are beginning to learn who God is.
As prayer is introduced to your life you begin to learn as you go. As you grow in prayer your eyes widen to what is truth or false. When we choose to become prayer warriors and not just pray to benefit ourselves, we then become part of a great learning era in our lives.
With prayer life will become easier, because the Lord is faithful to us and no prayer is a waste of time! ~CJ Castillo
